Travel Health Insurance

'Health is Wealth'
This is a very old saying, yet so true. Without your health, you are not in a position to do anything, let alone travelling for business or taking a pleasure trip. It is vital that you safeguard your health and especially if you are suffering from a major medical condition. In such cases, it is of utmost importance that you take care of your health even more. In such circumstances if you happen to travel without travel health insurance, then you are asking for trouble. There are hundreds of unforeseen situations that can occur while travelling, so it is required that you do not travel without travel health insurance.

Why is Travel Health Insurance important?

Many of you don't realize how expensive medical expenses can be in another place far away from home. The very thought of spending thousands of dollars on something that can probably be taken care of in half the price is uncalled for. When you can spend less for something why would anyone spend more, right? Well, if you do not have travel health insurance, then you may very well have to do exactly that; spend thousands of dollars on the medical expenses away from home. But if you have insurance, then all that you spend will be duly reimbursed to you after you claim it. You never know when you or your any of your loved ones is in a medical emergency. It is only a case of being safe than sorry.

Types of Travel Health Insurance...

There are many travel insurance companies out there who offer different, different types of plans for travel health insurance. Broadly, you can opt for single trip plans or multi trip plans.

Single Trip Plans

Ideally, those who travel less frequently should opt for single trip plans. These plans have a considerable choice of varying deductibles (excess) and medical limits. They cover for trips that for up to six months. If you are under 74 years, there is a different plan and if you are under 84 years, then there is a different plan that you need to make your choice from. The age limits may vary from plan to plan and insurance company to insurance company. Generally these plans would cover any pre-existing conditions for medical services, bedside visit benefit, repatriation of remains, and medical evacuation.

Multi Trip Plans

These plans are beneficial for those who go on many trips in a year. The number of trips is not decided in a year and this plan is valid for up to 70 days per trip. The age limit for this trip would vary again but generally those under 84 years of age are eligible for this plan. This plan covers bedside visit benefit, repatriation of remains, medical evacuation, and pre-existing conditions for medical services.
